ProPR on your desktop.

ProPR Desktop puts your instances in a native window on Linux and macOS. Pair it with any ProPR server, keep several instances and GitHub accounts side by side, and get native menus, a tray and notifications. On Linux it also sets up a local ProPR stack for you.

Setup overview

Download ProPR Desktop 0.9.0.

The GitHub release carries every package, with a SHA256SUMS file to verify them. Choose the package for your operating system and CPU.

Linux

Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, RHEL and compatible distributions.

macOS

Unsigned build. See the first-launch steps below.

There is no Windows build yet; the browser and the installable web app work on any platform.

Install on Linux.

Verify the download, then install it with your package manager. Set ARCH to x64 or arm64.

ARCH=x64
sha256sum --check --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS
sudo apt install ./ProPR-Desktop-0.9.0-linux-$ARCH.deb # Debian, Ubuntu
sudo dnf install ./ProPR-Desktop-0.9.0-linux-$ARCH.rpm # Fedora, RHEL
propr-desktop

ProPR Desktop keeps credentials in the Secret Service keyring (GNOME Keyring, KWallet), so keep it unlocked. To update, install the newer package the same way.

Install on macOS.

Open the DMG and drag ProPR to Applications. The macOS build is not signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch.

  1. Open ProPR once. macOS reports that it cannot verify the app. Choose Done.
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to Security.
  3. Choose Open Anyway next to the ProPR message, then confirm with your password.

macOS remembers the exception, and ProPR opens normally from then on. Alternatively, clear the quarantine flag in Terminal:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/propr-desktop.app

To update, quit ProPR, replace the app with the newer download, and repeat these steps.

Connect in three steps.

ProPR Desktop connects to a ProPR instance: your own server, a Connect managed tunnel, or a stack on the same machine.

Enter the address

Choose Connect Instance and enter the instance URL. The app checks compatibility and the instance identity first.

Approve in your browser

Sign in with GitHub in your default browser. ProPR never sees your GitHub password, and the app never receives a GitHub token.

Confirm the account

A native dialog shows the GitHub @username that approved. Confirm it, and the app stores its instance token encrypted in the OS credential store.

Built for the desktop.

Instances and accounts

Save several instances and several GitHub accounts, including two accounts on the same instance. Switch from the instance manager.

Native menus and shortcuts

Every menu action has a keyboard shortcut: jump to Dashboard, Inbox, Plans, Goals, Tasks and Repositories, or start a task, plan, goal, automation or to-do from anywhere. On Linux, the application menu button opens the same menus.

Tray and notifications

The tray shows task and plan counts. Native notifications flag failed tasks and work that needs you on each device where you allow them.

Sandboxed renderer

The web UI runs without Node, shell or file-system access. Credentials stay in the main process, encrypted at rest.

Clear versions

About ProPR shows the app version. Connection Diagnostics show the server version separately. Updating the app never upgrades the server.

Same product

Everything in the web UI works in the desktop app: plans, goals, tasks, reviews, settings and logs.

Run ProPR on this computer.

On Linux x64, choose Set up this computer on first launch. The wizard runs the same setup engine as propr setup.

  1. Checks Docker and the host before it changes anything.
  2. Signs you in to GitHub through your browser, then asks for GitHub authentication, event intake, coding agents and an optional user allowlist.
  3. Pulls the images that match this desktop release and opens a terminal for agent logins.
  4. Starts the stack, checks its health, and opens browser pairing for you to approve.

Cancel stops the current step and keeps your saved data. A cancelled or failed setup reopens with Retry setup.

Requirements

  • Docker without sudo

Docker Engine running, and your user able to run docker info.
  • Network access

GitHub and Docker Hub, for the repository and the prebuilt images.
  • A terminal emulator

GNOME Terminal, Konsole, xterm or your distribution's default, for coding-agent logins.
  • Linux x64

ProPR's runtime images are built for x64. On arm64 Linux and on macOS, connect to an existing instance.
